Global Youth Anti-Corruption Forum 2010
Brussels, Belgium – May 26-28, 2010The Global Youth Anti-Corruption Forum brings together 50 young civil society leaders, musicians, and journalists from around the World to exchange their experiences and formulate action plans to fight corruption in their countries.
This youth events aims at strengthening the Global Youth Anti-Corruption network (GYAC) by engaging emerging leaders, many of whom come from Fragile States, in the dialogue to build stronger social accountability mechanisms.
The forum uses music and ICT as two innovative approaches that are appealing to young people and that have proven to be effective tools for outreach and social monitoring. The strong IT expertise of young activists can help advocates for good governance to be more effective in the fight against corruption. And music can help break the taboo on corruption that still persists in many countries. For this event several songs addressing corruption challenges have been produced by musicians coming from countries such as Malawi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Columbia.

Young Journalists Fighting Against Corruption
Young journalists play a strategic role alongside youth organizations in promoting good governance. More than communication allies in outreach and improving public awareness of the related issues, they provide unbiased perspectives through sharp investigatory and analytical reporting, aired and published on local, national, and international media outlets (print press, radio, television, virtual press, blogs, and more). Our young journalists are supported by the European Center for Journalism in their coverage work in Brussels and beyond.
